Children 3 Years & Older

The purpose of this visit is to check for cavities, gum disease, bite problems, and to provide prevention information. Because about 30% of U.S. children under the age of six get cavities, we are working to promote positive experiences through early detection and prevention.

What Will Our Office Be Like?

Our office looks and feels like a warm home. We have a fun waiting room with iPads, trucks, stuffed animals, books, and toys. However, do not expect a long stay in the waiting room because we respect your time, and we will be ready for you.

What Will Happen During The Visit?

One of our dental assistants will greet you to begin your appointment, which will last about forty minutes. She will invite you into a room with a large window overlooking trees and birdhouses. We always welcome parents to sit by their children during all visits.

Analysis of child’s fluoride intake

The dental assistant will do an analysis of your child’s fluoride intake and make recommendations on brushing and flossing techniques. If your child is able, she will take any necessary x-rays. We are very careful about our x-rays, and we have a very limited x-ray policy.

Examine child’s mouth for cavities

Dr. Kevin will evaluate the X-rays and then examine your child’s mouth for cavities, gum health, and jaw growth. If your child is comfortable, then the dental assistant will perform a tooth cleaning and apply a fluoride treatment.

Dr. Kevin will report any findings from the exam

Dr. Kevin will report any findings from the exam, and provide additional prevention information.
